Edmund Tijerina, a food and dining writer for the San Antonio Express- News, has worked in newspapers for far longer than anybody ever guesses.

While working in Milwaukee in the late 1990s, he took a year away from journalism to open a small Mexican restaurant as chef and owner. He and his wife, Lupita, have a one-year old son who already loves to eat well.
